Application

Assesses memory and memory deficits.
This test with its four difficulty levels is a continuous visual recognition test. The varying item difficulties enable it to be used in a respondent-oriented way, preventing floor or ceiling effects. The FVW can be used with patients with different types of impaired brain function and to test the efficiency of various pharmacological interventions. It distinguishes between normal, age-related memory decay and pathological memory decay. The test is used in clinical neuropsychology.

Depending on the test form, pictures of concrete objects, numbers, words, meaningless syllables, letter or number combinations or hard-to-verbalize shapes are displayed. Half of the images involve verbal material and half non-verbal material. The respondent’s task is to decide whether he is seeing an item for the first time or whether it has appeared previously.

Formes de test

S2: Form A (UBS 3)
S3: Form B (UBS 4)
S4: Form C (UBS 5-6)
S5: Form D (UBS >6)
S6: Short form E – clinical form
The continuous visual recognition task is available at four different levels of difficulty (A, B, C, D). "A" is the simplest, "D" is the most difficult test form. Form S6 - lowest level of difficulty - is a short version for clinical populations and children.

Évaluation

The following main variables are scored:

  • Number of hits: The number of correctly recognized items.
  • Number of false positives: The number of “yes” answers for distractors – i.e. an item that has so far only been presented once is classed as having been presented twice.
  • Mean reaction time hits (sec.).
